In-Service Training
This is GLO's second level of training. It has been specifically designed to help students who have graduated from the Discipleship Training in Smithton to continue study and training in the context of a local church.
It recognises that each Christian has different need and has different serving abilities given by God.
400 by 400 Training: Over a year (if students are working part-time) trainees complete the 400 hours study programme and the 400 hours of practical ministry.
Study Programme: The study component involves studies in NT and OT books, and practical studies such as Discipleship and World Missions. Other study during the year includes Scripture memorisation, reading assignments and a personal study programme where the trainee completes a project in an area of interest.
Practical Programme: The practical component is negotiated between the trainee and the leaders of the church with whom the trainee will be working. This allows a personally tailored involvement for the trainee so that they can develop in areas of personal interest.
Mentor: each trainee has a mentor who the meet with on a regular basis and who seeks to help them develop in their Christian life and witness.
Location: The training may take place in the trainees home church or in a church elsewhere that is prepared to take on the responsibility. The flexible nature of the Course allows trainees to specialise in areas e.g., Youth Ministry or Camp work, or spend time overseas working with a missionary.
